Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
This policy explains what data Quizjolt (“Quizjolt”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Quizjolt mobile application, how it’s used, and the choices you have. We designed Quizjolt to keep almost everything on your device. Read this policy alongside the platform terms of Google Play or the Apple App Store, which also apply to your use of the app.
1. Data we store on your device
The following information stays on your phone in a local database. We do not have access to it and it is not uploaded to our servers:
- Profile you set during onboarding: display name, education level, subjects of interest, study goal, and daily-minutes target.
- Study materials you create or import: typed topics, pasted text, PDFs, and any text extracted from photos of your notes.
- Quizzes, attempts, answers, and statistics:including scores, timings, streaks, and per-topic accuracy.
- Tutor conversations: messages you exchange with the in-app AI tutor.
- Daily usage counters used to enforce free-tier and subscription limits.
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes all of the above from your device.
2. Data sent to our backend for AI features
When you generate a quiz, ask the tutor a question, request an explanation, or have a short answer graded, the text content of that request is sent to our backend, which forwards it to a large-language-model provider (currently Google Gemini and DeepSeek). Specifically, we send:
- The topic, pasted text, or extracted note text you supplied.
- The configuration you chose (question count, difficulty, question types, mode).
- The current message and recent transcript when you talk to the tutor.
- For exam grading: the questions, your answers, and which were marked correct.
Our backend acts as a thin proxy. It does not retain a long-term log of your prompts; requests are processed and discarded after the provider responds. We do not attach your name, email, device identifier, or any account credential to these requests — the app does not yet have user accounts.
The model providers process your request under their own privacy terms. As of this policy’s last-updated date:
- Google Gemini API: https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms
- DeepSeek: https://www.deepseek.com/privacy
3. Camera and photo library access
If you choose to scan your notes, the app asks for camera or photo library permission. The image you capture or select is resized on-device and sent (over HTTPS) to our backend, which forwards it to our vision model provider (currently Google Gemini) to extract the text content. We do not retain the image on our servers — it is processed and discarded after the provider responds, and we do not store it outside of that transient request. The image is not used for training, advertising, or any purpose beyond extracting the text you asked us to read. You can revoke camera or photo permissions at any time in your operating-system settings; the rest of the app will continue to work without them.
4. Sharing quizzes via a link
If you generate a shareable challenge link, the quiz content (title, questions, and answer options) and an aggregated attempt counter are stored on our backend (Vercel KV) so other people can open the link. Shared challenge data expires automatically after 30 days. Anyone with the link can view the quiz; do not share links containing information you wish to keep private. We do not store who generated a link or who opened it.
5. Subscriptions and payments
When subscriptions become available, purchases are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Quizjolt does not collect or store your payment-card information. The store providers may share with us a transaction identifier, the product purchased, and the entitlement’s expiry date so we can unlock paid features. Refer to the relevant store’s privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
6. Analytics and crash reporting
Quizjolt does not currently use third-party analytics or crash reporting services. The app contains an internal logging facade that prints events to the developer console during local development only. If we add analytics or crash reporting in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, request your consent.
7. Data we do not collect
The app does not collect, request, or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or phone number.
- Your contacts.
- Your precise or coarse location.
- Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA / AAID).
- Microphone audio.
- Background location, files outside what you explicitly select, or any data from other apps.
8. Children
Quizjolt is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with information of any kind, please contact us at the email address below and we will work with you to remove it.
9. Your rights
Because the bulk of your data is stored only on your device, you can delete it at any time by clearing app data or uninstalling Quizjolt. For data that may have been transmitted to our backend (such as a shared challenge), you may request deletion by emailing us at onequations@gmail.com. Depending on your jurisdiction (for example under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have additional rights including access, correction, portability, and objection. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.
10. Security
Data sent between the app and our backend, and between our backend and the AI providers, is transmitted over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; we work to protect data in transit and limit what we retain.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Material changes will be communicated through the app or store listing.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy or about your data can be sent to onequations@gmail.com.
